First 2008-09 Monthly Highlights DVD out now

The highlights DVD of the Friendly matches in July and August is now available.

So, if you were away on holiday, busy mowing the lawn or mending a leaking roof, you can now catch up on the games you missed.

Thrill to the first visit of Newport County to the NWG, marvel at the appearance of Moors from far away Solihull, be enthralled by the mystery tour to Wimborne, Bishops Cleeve & Wellingborough, see the NWG survive visiting miners, and least but not last a cup final at a new ground near Stratford.

Thanks to some nifty editing by Paul Edwards (of fanzine fame) this is now your chance to own and cherish 24 gripping minutes of what you waited for through the sodden summer footy desert.

Use the menu option above to get your copy now.

It seems video.google also lowers the resolution according to busy times of day - so to see a better quality replay try in the morning or click on the google button at bottom right and then click on "go to Google Video" and then you can use the download video button in the Details tab on the right.
The reason I use video.google is because it's free and it uses disk space on their servers instead of blowing my ISPs quota.

Here are the clips, for the winner there are a few different versions where I've been testing a variety of compression formats and parameters - which do you think is best?

Probably not a lot in it, because, despite the quality of the uploaded clip, google video mashes it a bit - presumably to suit their storage and streaming bandwidth. Still, not bad for a free and advert free service. For better, longer lasting quality, there's always the DVDs!

Meanwhile checkout the feature on the soccer x site, as Geoff was a welcome guest up on the perch - and I think he followed the flight of the ball for the winner better than I did - what a screamer!

2008-09 here we go

Welcome to the new look, slimmed down and easier to maintain Brakes Videos web-site, now in blog format using blogger.com.

Whole match DVDs are available for all the pre-season matches.

The Season Highlights DVD set for last season, 2007-08, will be available in good time for Christmas. The intro has been done, thanks to Phillip, and the discs' contents are being mapped out - then we'll know how many in the set, probably three, and how much room there will be for any extras.

Meanwhile the new season is already underway with an away win against Aylesbury United at Chesham - you'll want to check out Jai Stanley's 35 yard stunner!
